While some of our clients may be tempted to import directly from China to save on costs, they may be unaware of the additional expenses and delays that come with obtaining the required BIS certifications. To import electronic items such as silent headphones into India, a minimum of five BIS certificates are required, including one for the headphone, one for the battery, one for the cell inside the battery, one for the charger, and one for the transmitter. The cost of obtaining each certificate is approximately 1.5 lacs INR, and the process can take anywhere from one to five months. This can add an additional 5-7 lacs INR to the cost of importing headphones from China, making the final cost 1.5x to 2x higher than purchasing from Nokomoto.
